_ FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL IDEA

  • WHAT WILL IT DO?

STATEMENTS

– If the energy of a city is limited, part of it that is for domestic use,  in a democratic way it should be equally divided for everyone.

-Can we design a home in where the interaction between user and space can dialog about the information that they need to know

CONCEPT

The idea of the project come from to create a whole fablab home in where, the user can fabricate not only the structure but the interface in where the user can generate knowledge and learn to measure his energy consumption habits.

The Original idea is that the project is a house or a personal unit, but for time and budget I decide to scale the project and create a mobile unit that have the concepts of the fablab home. This project is : THE FAB CAMPER…..HOW TO GO ( ALMOST ) EVERYWHERE

The idea is that this unit can go off grid and you can have the minimal utilities that you have in your normal house and with the limited amount of energy generator you need to distribute in yours daily habits.

  • WHAT MATERIALS AND COMPOSITES WILL BE REQUIRED?

There are two main areas: The Camper Structure and The Energy Watcher

The Camper the base structure it will be rectangular metal pipe of 2×4 green color and the rest will be of MDF of 9mm .The exterior paneling is still in doubt about what I will use ( composites ).

The Energy Watcher I divide it en 3 parts: The first is the power source, that it´s an off grid solar panel system that the components are the solar panel, the charge controller , the power meter, the deep cycle battery and the power inverter. The second part is the hacking of the out puts of the off grid system. The components of this are the kill-a-watt device ( 4 pcs ) and the xbee boards for transmit and receive the power generation data to a software. And the third part is the software and programming stage in were using the tweet-a-watt software I can generate the json data to create a database for  graphic the information on a template that all ready exist and is also ready to use it on a personal device like iphone or ipad.

The camper structure basically come from the local stores. For the Energy watcher, the off-grid system  there are several providers that sell the kit, but for cost I´m looking for use parts and the part of the interactive system they come from mainly from adafruit and amazon single parts.

  • WHAT PARTS AND SYSTEMS WILL BE MADE?

All the Camper structure is from zero. The Solar panel kit is going to be purchased but the creation of the data and the software lecture is going to be modified from the tweet-a-watt software.

  •  WHAT PROCESSES WILL BE USED?

From digital design , laser cut, cnc milling, and 3d parts, welding and if I need, I will do some composites for the exterior of the camper.

For the domotic system I will do some electric modifications and some programming using out-puts and in-puts and some web design

I still don’t know how to hack the off-grid system to have the energy generation data to the future software that will graphic it.

What Exterior cover I will use for better durability.

  • HOW WILL IT BE EVALUATED?

The final evaluation will be that if the system gives you the lectures and the statistics of energy use. And for the camper, is going to be that if it can resist the road wind forces and the water resist exterior
